My Second Life Experience

Posted By admin on October 7, 2009

Meeting in Second Life was more interested than I expected. The scavenger hunt was a good way to get acclimated to the game. Much more so than when I logged on to create my character and to make my way to the meeting spot.

My partners for this were Wellcomm and m8rxgrl. It took us a couple minutes to get started, but soon enough we found our way around. I won’t repost what Wellcomm posted or the images I saw from m8rxgrl, but here are a few more of the screen captures I took.

(l-r) Girls dancing, another nightclub, Eiffel Tower on a ledge (see Wellcomm’s for the other view of top), Eiffel Tower at the bottom, Linden Village, and the nonprofit Garden for the Missing. Here is the link to m8rxgrl’s post. She has some great photos!

I was telling a friend of mine about my experience in Second Life and he mentioned that some people make money there. A quick google search came up with this article “How To Make Money Selling Art on Second Life.” What a thought.

    Hello qulaurie,
I was really surprised to know that people can make money from Second Life. I noticed that my balance of money was zero in the game, but I didn’t check how people earn money in this game.
Thank a lot for telling us and putting the article.

First of all, great pictures. And second of all… wow, I just read that article you posted about making money in Second Life. That is crazy!! (a good type of crazy)

I know, right? I linked that article because it was more timely (June 2009). But while I was searching I found information about someone who earned $1 million U.S. in Second Life. (I don’t know how, but I guess SL Linden can be converted to RL cash!)

Actually, you could have asked our host about that. His project in my Second Life course was setting up a gallery to sell his photos in SL. In practice, I think he’s made more money making Elven furniture for the world. Another student in the class ended up starting a sideline designing and selling bladed weapons–not something I would have expected from her at all!
